Increasing your customer base can be as simple as counting from one to ten-providing you create a marketing plan and follow it.  A good motto that someone said to me once was “Plan your work and work your plan.” 

Commit your plan to paper being as detailed as possible.  You do this by preparing a step-by-step program. The more detailed your plan is, the better your chance of achieving your goal.

Put your skates on and create a good marketing plan which includes the following ten steps, each of which can be customised to your business.

  1. Establish a list of the types of businesses you want to market to
  2. Use signage especially vehicle signage to get SEEN while out marketing
  3. Create a Cold Call and Telemarketing campaign to cover your marketing area
  4. Join at least two organisations in your marketing area.
  5. Commit to doing mailings regularly
  6. Prepare a realistic budget that you can commit to for the entire year and do not deviate from it.
  7. Put your best foot forward when contacting a new client.
  8. Sell the features and benefits of your product.  Do not get stuck on price.
  9. Assume you have the order and ask questions that solidify that attitude. 
  10. Listen to your prospect when they talk to you

These steps will bring your marketing effort into focus.
